Rustic Wine Cork Ornament

Okay everyone, let's bust out the wine corks again.

And make an ornament.
I started with ten corks and painted the ends green.
Start with the 4 at the bottom and hot glue together. Then just work your way up.
For the star at the top, I screwed that little hook thing (I don't know the official name for it. Eye hook, maybe.) and then tied the button star around it with string.
(See the cork I messed up on and painted both ends?)
I tied the string around the whole tree and made a loop at the top to hang. The stem of the tree is a different kind of cork that I cut in half and glued to the bottom.
Last thing, decorate any way you want!
Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree...
Happy Friday!

It's a Party! #82

Oops, sorry this is starting a little later than usual. I'm in the middle of getting all the Christmas crap beautiful decorations out.

You know, once it's all unpacked and then I can start moving things around to where I want them, I'm happy. But being knee deep in 6 big bins that all need to be unpacked and put somewhere kind of sucks.

Don't worry, once I get to the bin that has all the Christmas songs in it, I'll be a happy girl again. Greg, on the other hand, will probably go hide in his Man Cave.

Enough of my Christmas woes, let's party!

Hits of the Party!

Before we get to the features, I want to thank Beckie of Roadkill Rescue for featuring my Christmas Cheer window. That window is by far my favorite Christmas decoration. If you get a chance, take a look around at all the fabulous trash to treasure projects that Beckie features. Amazing!

Wine Cork Melting Snowman

Some of you may remember that last year I made a Snowman Necklace out of this same kind of wine cork.

This year I turned the cork the other way and now the poor little guy is melting!

I took the cork and painted it white.

Yeah, ignore that awful face. I'm such a bad artist, I can't even draw eyes with a marker! Maybe if I had taken Art instead of Band in school, I could draw a circle. Probably wouldn't have helped, but that's my excuse. Anybody want to hear me play the flute, piccolo, oboe, piano, or organ?

I was able to make a scarf out of felt and glued it to the bottom of the cork.

For the base, I painted a cardboard coaster from a restaurant (yeah, I save mine when we go out to eat) white and glued a couple of pieces of batting to it.

Then glued the cork to the base. Still need to change that face!

I added buttons for the eyes and his melted buttons. The ear muffs are a piece of felt and pom poms. His nose is also felt.

We had snow flurries here yesterday so when I was editing my photo's I thought the added snow was perfect. Maybe it will help with Frosty's melting problem!

Oh, and by the way, I am so not ready for snow!!!

Zipper Christmas Ornament

Happy Monday! Did everyone survive the big Thanksgiving weekend? Now that the constant eating and shopping is over with, I'm thinking it's time to get the tree and Christmas decorations up.

One of the many times I was standing in the long line at JoAnn's, I was lucky enough to be right by their idea table. I stared at the zipper ornaments so much that I had to come home and make a couple.
To make two trees, you just need one zipper that you take apart and some beads. I used a 22" zipper.
Then all you do is wind your zipper in loops and hot glue a bead in between. I added a bead to the bottom for the trunk and made a loop with the zipper at the top.
Add a ribbon through the loop to hang.
Now all I need is the tree to be put up to hang these beauties. Any volunteers?

Top Hits of the Party!

How's that title?

If I win the lottery, I'll start sending our top 5 hits of the party their very own party hat and red Solo cup! Hey, I've got an idea. (When I say that to my husband, he covers his eyes and says, "Oh, no!".)

If you all would send me a lottery ticket for Christmas, my odds in winning would be better and so would your chance for a party hat and red Solo cup! Sound good?

Okay, uncover your eyes and take a peek at these Top 5 most viewed links from last week's party.

Snowman Washer Necklace

You met Tom last week, now meet his friend...

By now I'm sure you know the drill, punch out circles, mod-podge, and Dimensional Magic.
Instead of using my normal wire, I tried this wrapped wire. Although it looks okay, it was a pain in the butt to work with in such a small space. For the others I made, I switched back to my old faithful 22 gauge wire (not wrapped).
See? It's just so bulky. It's hard to tell in the photo's, but the paper is glittery.
I wanted it to look like he had a hat on, so I went with a large wooden bead. The scarf is specialty yarn. I think it's actually called Scarf Yarn (huh, imagine that!).
I didn't think of it before, but now that I see him on that paper, he would make a cute ornament, too. That little guy may end up on my tree instead of around my neck!
I made a few extra and hid them from the kids. If you don't want to make your own, they're available Here in my Etsy shop.

Interchangeable Disney Necklace

Lately there have been quite a few Disney posts popping up around blogland and I started missing Mickey and all his friends.

This was so easy, I can't believe I didn't think of it before.
I found these bottle caps in the scrapbooking section at Hobby Lobby. The sticker part on the back of them comes right off and you're left with just the Disney bottle caps.
I glued a thick magnet to a jewelry bail with Gorilla Glue. I cut away that glob of excess glue that oozed out with an Exacto knife. Sure would have been nice if I had taken the photo after I did that, but, oh well.
That's all there is to it! The bottle caps stick onto the magnet like a charm! (hee-hee, get it? charm?)

Turkey Washer Necklace

Hi, I'm Tom.

What is this crazy obsession I have with washers? It seems to be my goal in life to make something out of them every holiday. Tom.
I made him the same way I did Mickey Mouse and the Sunflower and the Olympics and..., okay Terri, enough already!
You know the basics, mod-podge, Dimensional Magic, and wire them together. That top washer is glued on with E-6000.
I wasn't sure what I was going to do for his face, but I found a package of puffy stickers with that guy in it.
I cut his face out and glued it to the top washer.
When you look at him, you might think he's a little heavy, but he's really not. I used pretty thin washers. Aren't his eyes cute?
Have an awesome weekend!
